Police investigators from the Milford Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance as they attempt to locate a suspicious suspect who ripped a door off a gas station and used a garbage can to steal cigarettes during a late-night burglary.

Officers from the Milford Police Department responded at approximately 2:20 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27 to the Mobil gas station on Bridgeport Avenue, where there was a burglary alarm going off. Upon arrival at the station, officers found the front glass door had been ripped off and was lying on the ground outside the building.

According to police, video surveillance showed a suspect that quickly ran into the store carrying a large plastic garbage can. He proceeded to fill it with cigarettes from behind the counter, took cash from the register and took off. Investigators said that the suspect is believed to have left in a dark-colored vehicle, possibly a station wagon, which was waiting for the suspect on a nearby street.

Investigators described the suspect as a man wearing a black jacket with the hood over his head, a ski mask, gloves, gray pants and black and white sneakers. Anyone with information regarding the incident has been asked to contact Milford Police Det. Sgt. Jeffrey Cortes by calling (203) 783-4761 or emailing JCortes@ci.milford.ct.us referencing case number 0436-19.
